Study Title: The Role of Art Practices Among Young Adults with Chronic Physical Illness: A Qualitative Study
Rationale: This study explores how informal art practices (e.g., visual art, poetry, creative writing) shape the lived experiences of young adults with chronic physical illness. The goal is to understand the role of creative expression in coping, well-being, and patient-centred care.
Study Description:

I am doing this research for a project under the supervision of Dr. Alexander Hall. I want to explore how engaging in informal art practices, such as visual art, poetry, and creative writing, shapes the lived experiences of young adults with chronic physical illnesses. The study aims to answer: How do young adults with chronic physical illnesses perceive the role of informal art practices in their lived experience?

Your participation would involve a one-on-one interview that will take place on Zoom and take approximately 1 hour of your time. The interview will involve discussing personal experiences related to chronic illness, mental health, and art practices. Some participants may find reflecting on their health and personal experiences emotionally sensitive. All responses will be confidential, and you may withdraw from the study at any time without consequences. If you have any concerns, please contact the researcher before participating.

Your insight will help generate knowledge that could offer valuabl contributions to the scientific community, healthcare providers, and young adults living with chronic physical illnesses. This research hopes to provide new insights into how art practices can foster patient-centred care. The findings can also inform healthcare policies, practices, and programs aimed at smoothening the transition and improving overall health experiences for young adults. Ultimately, your involvement in this research aims to show the value of creative expression and advocate for its inclusion in chronic physical illness management.
