| Study Title: | Exploring the Lived Experience and the Influence of Gender for Women with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in Canada from a Critical Perspective |
| Rationale: | Understanding how gender intersects for the health of women with MS in Canada |
| Study Description: |
The purpose of this study is to understand how gender influences the lived experiences of individuals who self-identify or previously identified as women with MS. This includes exploring all aspects of their experiences, such as socio-cultural factors and social determinants of health (e.g., the impact of gender on housing, income, and employment). By gaining this understanding, the study aims to identify the needs of this population and highlight key areas where additional support may be beneficial.
Participants will be pre-screened for eligibility and will register for an interview via videoconference or telephone. They will review the letter of information and consent, at this time be eligible for a $50 gift card. If consenting, the participant will then complete a demographic questionnaire with a member of the research team. Each participant will then take part in an interview led by a research team member (approximately 60–90 minutes). The findings from this study will contribute to deeper insight into how gender intersects with the experiences of women with MS in Canada. Results will be published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal and shared at national and international conferences focused on women’s health and MS. |
